Planned Giving
In Canada, it is estimated that over 100,000 people, or 1 in every 300 people will develop Parkinson disease. In Alberta, over 8,000 people and their families live with Parkinson disease. If you wish to make a lasting difference in the lives of those with Parkinson’s, please consider leaving a legacy or planned gift to the Parkinson Alberta Society. You can accomplish this in many different ways:
- Including the Parkinson Alberta Society as a beneficiary in your will for a specific sum or portion of your estate.
- Donating part of your assets, for example, securities, bonds, charitable gift annuities, or gift of property.
- Naming the Parkinson Alberta Society as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy
- Naming the Parkinson Alberta Society as a beneficiary of your retirement funds, RRSP, RRIF or pension.
The Parkinson Alberta Society is a proud member in Leave A Legacy Calgary, a community based awareness campaign to encourage people to provide for the charities they support when arranging their financial and estate plans.
There are many people who give very generously to their favorite charity while alive but may be concerned that their contributions will be missed when they are no longer here. A gift through your will or financial plan, however, can be your way of ensuring your favorite causes are well supported now and long after you are gone. Surprisingly, such a gift can also be a very practical addition to a financial or estate plan when tax issues are taken into consideration-- even for those who do not think they have tax issues.
In addition to increasing Albertan's awareness of their ability to make a legacy gift, Leave A Legacy Calgary helps organizations like PSSA become better able to promote this option to donors. Please visit Leave a Legacy for more information.
