Peer Support Program
The Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta is interested in coordinating a peer program that is designed
to match individuals struggling with certain aspects of Parkinson's with others who have faced similar
experiences to provide emotional and practical support.
Who Could Benefit?
- People with Parkinson's from all ages and stages (mild, moderate,
moderate +).
- People providing care and support (spouses, children, friends).
How Do I Become a Trained Peer?
Peers will face a screening process to ensure safety of participants and also to enable strong matches
to be made. We will also provide training to the peer.
We are planning an information session for anyone interested so that you can get more information about how
it will work and how to fill out an application form. Keep watching for the date on the
What's New at PSSA Page of this website.
How Do You Get Matched to a Peer for Support?
A client service coordinator will be available to you in

Will my Buddy Drive me to my Appointments or Visit me on a Regular Basis?
This program is not a driving program or a visiting volunteer program. The intention of the program is to give
you a contact who has experienced a similar challenge and who has overcome it. It is a voice of experience and of hope
that you too can come through the challenge you are faced with.
Anyone interested in becoming a peer or a receiving support peer, please contact your nearest
client service coordinator.
