Education Classes
Parkinson Society of Southern Alberta (PSSA) has, for a number of years, recognized the valuable work that is being done by the
Living Well with a Chronic Condition Program offered through Alberta Health Services. This program is an exercise, education and
self-management program for individuals with chronic conditions. In the spring of 2009 Parkinson's disease was incorporated into
their programming.
The goal of the program is to provide high quality, client centered education so that the management of chronic conditions
improves in our region. PSSA and the Movement Disorders Program role is to provide the high quality professional expertise
to deliver the education. We are offering three free classes which will be available in the Fall and the Spring of every year.
The three classes offered are:
- Parkinson's Social Interaction, Memory and Concentration -- How PD affects your thinking
(short term memory, problem solving, multi-tasking) and ways to compensate for those changes in order to maintain your level of
social interaction.
- Parkinson's Medication -- You will learn about the medications you take for Parkinson's and why.
- Parkinson's Balance and Mobility -- Why balance and mobility are affected by Parkinson's and tips and strategies to improve balance and mobility.
